Is the hearing test really free?: Yes. The full 60-minute test is free and there is no obligation to buy anything. We charge £65 only if you need a written report for work, a driving licence or an insurer.
What happens during the test?: We ask about your hearing and health, look in both ears with an otoscope, then you listen to tones and words through headphones in our quiet room. We show you your audiogram and explain it before you leave.
Should I bring someone with me?: If you can, yes. A familiar voice helps with the speech test, and it is easier to remember what was said when two people heard it.
How accurate is the online hearing check?: It is a rough guide, not a test. It cannot know how loud your headphones are, and it only checks tones, not speech. If it suggests any difficulty, or you notice problems, book a full test.

How much do hearing aids cost?: From £1,195 a pair for Essential behind-the-ear aids to £3,295 a pair for Premium rechargeable aids. Every price includes fitting and the aftercare of its tech level, with no separate service plan.
Can I try hearing aids before I pay for them?: Yes. You wear them at home for up to 30 days. If they are not right, we change them or refund you in full, less £95 for the fitting appointments.
Which makes do you fit?: We are independent and fit aids from several of the large manufacturers. We choose on your hearing, your hands, your eyesight and your budget, not on a supplier target.
How long does it take to get used to them?: Most people settle in two to six weeks. Your own voice and the rustle of paper sound odd at first. We see you at two and six weeks to adjust them.

Can tinnitus be cured?: Usually not, but it can become much less noticeable. Most of our patients find it bothers them far less within three months of sound therapy and advice.
Do I need hearing aids for tinnitus?: Not always. If you also have hearing loss, aids often help because they bring back the background sound that masks the ringing. If you do not, we will say so.
What is in a tinnitus appointment?: A full hearing test, a questionnaire about how the tinnitus affects you, and 30 minutes on what it is and what helps. You leave with a written plan.
When should I see a GP first?: If the noise is in one ear only, beats in time with your pulse, or came on suddenly with dizziness or hearing loss, see your GP first. We will tell you the same if we find it.
